Mouse Pad not recognized on Acer Aspire after SSD upgrade, what can I do?

I've just fitted a couple of 1TB SSD hard drives into a couple of old Acer Aspire machines and used the "Windows Installation" files that are available here.
They both function fine, BUT the mouse pad isn't working on either.
I've searched the hard drives and the computers don't seem to be able to even locate them, never mind enable them to work. The computers seem to think that there is no mouse pad installed.
Is there something that I can do to enable to computer to locate the mouse pads and make them work?

The 2.5" SATA 3 SSD drives should have no bearing on your old laptops touchpads, its probably unfortunate that because they are old and when you upgraded the laptops drives you must have disconnected their touchpad cable, so go back and see if you have done that or you have shorted something and the touchpads don't work, also it would help if you stated what old Aspire model numbers laptops you have, so we can give you more precise technical advise. Good luck.
