I have just purchased the above M.2 SSD, partitioned it and formated it to the recommended suggestions.

The drive is visible on my system but when I go to my BIOS, the drive is there but not when I go to the boot section.

The problem this gives me is when I take my existing M.2 Windows drive out, my new drive is not available when I boot from a USB drive to install a new clean version of Windows 11.

Any ideas anyone please.

Make sure bios mode is in "UEFI" and bootable USB is created in "GPT" partition using Rufus software.

If you still unable to view your new SSD in boot section then check if your new ssd is in GPT partion or in MBR partition. If it is in MBR then you need to convert it to GPT.

I also recommend to set supervisor password and disable secure boot first before trying anything because it can hide drives.

If you are doing a Clean Install of Win-11 24H2 you can do it within your old Win-11 OS as this version has two options or an Update or Clean Install or do a clean Install.

If your old Win-11 is corrupted and you can't do an Update or a Clean Install within windows with the 24H2 file, then construct a bootable USB with Rufus 4.5 and follow their guide, then you need to download the Win-11 24H2 .ISO file from Microsoft that you need to put onto the Rufus installation USB and then you also need to put your Predator Helios PH16-71 laptops IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver version 19.5.1.1040 on the USB also, so that when you get to the Win-11 installation section @ Where do you want to install windows? > Load driver > you load this Intel IRST driver for your laptop so that the installation recognizes the M.2 SSD boot drive and the Win-11 installation can continue, as that is what you haven’t done.

Win-11 section where you need to load the Intel IRST driver

The bios > Boot section does not show the boot drive like in the old MBR/Legacy bios do. When you put a bootable USB into the USB port of a Win-11 laptop for a clean install, the laptop boots and you get a notification on the screen post boot to press an F key to boot to the bootable Win-11 installation USB, so that is what you need to do for a clean install.

Another option is to do a clone of your old M.2 boot drive to the new Gen 4 x4 M.2 drive by putting the new M.2 SSD drive into the 2nd SSD drive in your PH16-71 laptop and use the appropriate new M.2 drives suggested cloning software, then and after the clone is finished, take the old boot drive out and fit the new drive and the laptop will have the same files and OS as your old drive did and will boot perfectly. It’s a very simple process to install windows with both of the guides above. Good luck and hope this helps you out and give you a guide of what you have done wrong.

I have tried , using several youtube videos, to add the driver to the windows iso but that also failed.

What happened to the old method of just putting in the disk/USB, following instructions and bingo new install?

Looks like i am stuck with the lower capacity, slower drive.
