Hi, I have an Acer Predator G5900 and I recently broke the catches on both of the HDD swap trays. I’m looking for either: replacement HDD Swap trays or replacement orange plastic catch clips, but can’t find either anywhere.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are no "catches for the HDD swap trays" listed by Acer in the Predator G5900 desktops service guide, from what I can see from your caption, those clips can easily be welded together with a soldering iron and then sanded so that it can be glued and reinforced with some epoxy resin on top to make the weld more secure, so try that otherwise we can't give you any solutions as these parts are not available.

Get a fine soldering iron and weld the plastic where its broken together and then sand the surfaces so that an epoxy resin glue can bind and reinforce the break more securely or even use some fiberglass cloth with the epoxy resign glue. Good luck.

Or use a plastic zip tie to secure the side of the HDD trays in the places I've marked below to the desktop case to substitute these clips, as these clips are only there to make sure that the tray doesn't move or come out if you move the desktop.

Get a zip tie and tie them in the spot(s) shown in red below and secure the tray to the case that way

Boy, that is an oldie, 2011 vintage! :) As Steven states, Acer doesn't list the pieces like that individually. I'd be surprised if any sort of plastic welding would work as well, but perhaps you have a solid enough piece to use as a model for a 3D printed version? Worse comes to worst, just push the drive in fully until it seats and call it good, unless you are hauling the box around in the back of your pickup…

Thank you so much @StevenGen, for your response and suggestions. I think I will try the hot weld idea, perhaps reinforcing the joint wit small pieces of metal too. Nothing to lose in trying. At present, I’ve gone with a Velcro strap option.

@Billsey - Yes, she’s getting on a bit now, but with loads of upgraded RAM, graphics adapter, monitors, 5.1 sound system and about 12TB of hard drive space, I use it as a file server for music and video as well as my day to day computer, so I am determined to keep her alive as long as I can. 😀

Thanks for the responses - much appreciated
