Hi everyone,

I purchased this laptop 5 months ago, and the camera worked perfectly initially. However, I recently received the error 0xA00F4244 ("No cameras are attached"). I've tried every possible solution online, but the issue persists. This is my last hope before I consider getting the laptop replaced. Here's what I’ve tried so far:

  1. Windows Troubleshoot: It didn't help—no issues were resolved with help of this.
  2. Privacy Settings: The camera is not disabled in privacy settings, and apps have full access to it.
  3. App Conflict: No other apps are using the camera, and it’s enabled for all apps in settings.
  4. Device Manager: The camera driver is missing, even under hidden devices. Scanning for hardware changes didn’t help.
  5. Acer Website: Shockingly, I couldn’t find the camera driver on the official Acer support page for my model.
  6. Reset/Repair Options: I’ve used the reset and repair options for the Camera app and even reinstalled it, but the issue remains.

I’m stuck and really need assistance to resolve this. If anyone has faced a similar issue or knows how to fix it, please share your insights. Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

First, Disconnect the charger and remove USB Devices or anything connected while laptop is off.
Press power button for 30 seconds, then start the laptop again and see if camera is detected.

If still not, Go to windows update, turn on get latest update, then check for updates, also check for optional updates in advanced options.

Check if you found the camera

There are a couple of things that can cause the camera to disappear. Unlike with earlier systems, yours uses a MIPI interface to the camera, not just an internal USB port. If there is a driver issue with the underlying MIPI then the camera would likely disappear. I believe those are included in either the chipset drivers or the serial IO drivers. Does the microphone work? If the mic and camera are both out then that points more toward the full module being out, so could be a cabling failure to the camera board. The camera driver is the standard one that comes with Windows, so no need for anything special from the Acer support site.

The root cause of the camera error 0xA00F4244 is often linked to issues with the camera driver. If this driver is outdated or corrupted, it might not effectively communicate with the hardware, leading to this error.
Switch the driver to UVC driver
Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.

    Expand the Cameras section.

Double-click on your camera and select the Driver tab.

    Click on Update driver.

Select Browse my computer for drivers.

Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.

Select USB Video Device and then select Next to complete the driver update.

Select Close to acknowledge settings choices and go back to Device Manager. The webcam will now appear under the Cameras category in the Device Manager list.

Download and install new driver from manufacture's website
Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.

    Expand the Cameras section.

Double-click on your camera and select the Driver tab.

Note down the camera name and the manufacturer.

Go to your search engine and type “[manufacturer] [camera name] driver”.

Locate the manufacturer’s website and download and install the latest driver.

Restart your PC once the installation is complete.
