Hi Acer Community,

I’m facing issues with my keyboard backlight after getting my Acer laptop's motherboard replaced, and I could really use some help. Here’s what’s happening:

  1. The keyboard backlight turns on during boot, but as soon as I log into Windows, it turns off automatically.
  2. I have tried using the function key (Fn) combination, but it doesn’t seem to work.
  3. The dedicated keyboard key for changing the backlight mode is also not functioning.
  4. I have installed and uninstalled Predator Sense multiple times, but it didn’t resolve the issue.
  5. I checked the BIOS settings to see if there was an option to enable/disable the backlight, but I couldn’t find anything relevant.
  6. I updated my keyboard drivers through the Device Manager, but the issue persists.
  7. I’ve looked through the Acer Care Center app but couldn’t locate any backlight-related settings there either.
  8. My Windows operating system is up to date, and I have performed a system restart multiple times without any success.

This issue started occurring after my motherboard was replaced, so I’m wondering if there could be any compatibility or configuration issues related to the new hardware.

I would really appreciate any advice or solutions that might help resolve this issue. Is there any specific troubleshooting step that I might have missed? Could it be a hardware-related problem?

Thanks in advance for your support!

If you have taken all those steps and this problem is still happening, then its due to the mainboard replacement, as there could be a compatibility issue or the keyboard is faulty, as the keyboard lighting should have the full Pulsar Lighting > Global or Area light settings for your keyboard working after boot and when you use the laptop like all of these laptops Predator Sense controls.

Send your laptop back to Acer support and get them to fix this as something is wrong and its beyond a software settings issue. don't let it go beyond the warranty period as all parts on these laptops are expensive. Good luck.
