I have AN515-58 (brought 10 months ago) it works fine but when I open the lid there is a mild sound like an old door hinge and if I open slowly, I can feel the little vibration with this sound.

This product is under warranty. should I connect with customer care, or it is fine all laptops do that?

Hi, there should be no sounds when opening and closing the lid, the hinge may be set too tight or dirt got somehow in the hinge assembly, contact Acer Services in your country or submit online a "repair under warranty" ticket with Acer Support and wait for instructions by e-mail. The hinge is a very delicate part for a laptop, and the lid should always be opened and closed in the middle or with both hands at the corners of the lid to avoid flexing and undue stress on the hinge (and screen).

Since this is happening with a relatively new laptop (10 months old) and it's still under warranty, I recommend contacting Acer support for these reasons:

    1. The hinge sound could indicate early wear or a loose component
    2. Hinge issues tend to get worse over time if not addressed
    3. It's better to have it checked while still under warranty
    4. Hinge failures can be expensive to repair out of warranty

While some laptops do make slight sounds, a noticeable hinge noise with vibration isn't normal and could potentially lead to more serious issues later.

    Contact Acer support with:

    • Your laptop's serial number
    • Purchase proof
    • Clear description of the issue

They may offer repair/replacement if they determine it's a defect.
