Frequent BSODs After SSD and CPU Cooler Upgrade on Acer Predator PO3-630

Hello,

I’m seeking help regarding frequent BSODs on my Acer Predator PO3-630. I’ve had the system for over two years, and it has been running perfectly until now. Recently, I added an additional SSD (to address low storage) and replaced the CPU cooler. Since these upgrades, I’ve encountered multiple BSODs within less than a week:

  • DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
  • DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (133)

I suspect that the issue might be related to drivers, but I haven’t been able to identify or fix the problem.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  1. Checked for Windows updates and ensured the system is up to date.
  2. Attempted to update drivers through Device Manager.
  3. Verified that the SSD was added properly and the CPU cooler was installed correctly.

I’ve uploaded my Minidump files for reference:

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or suggestions on how to resolve this issue. Please let me know if you need additional information about my system or the upgrades.

Thank you in advance!

I already submitted this question to Microsoft support and Reddit but nothing worked, that's why I am posting here now.

Any CPU cooler or any PCIe V3.0 or V4.0 M.2 SSD should be compatible and work with the PO3-630 desktop and should not give you any BSODs and they should work 100%. You didn’t state which CPU cooler, or M.2 drive you upgraded to, which could help to a certain extent as some M.2 SSD drives could be incompatible with your desktop.

Btw the preferred CPU cooler that acer community members have fitted to the PO3-630 desktop0 is the NH-U9S chromax.black, that also has option to add an extra second fan, so if you don’t have this cooler it might be a good choice to fit this specific cooler as it works and its one of the best CPU coolers on the market for the Predator desktops, with the M.2 SSD Gen 4 x4 lane drives, the best drive is the Samsung 990 Pro NVMe with Heatsink which I’m using on my Predator Helios Neo PHN16-71 with a 13th Gen CPU and 64GB DD%4800MT/s ram and its works very speedily and absolutely perfectly with gaming.

The first thing that you should make sure is that your Predator Helios PO3-630 desktop has the Win-11 version: 24H2 update and all its updates so that the OS is at OS build version: 26100.2894, then update the bios to version R01-A4, then update the firmware version v1.02 available @ Acer Drivers and Manuals and also all NVidia drivers by installing the GeForce Experience Software that scans the OS for the appropriate NVidia graphics drivers for your PO3-630 desktop as these things are essential that they are up to date and correctly installed. Do that first as and otherwise the BSODs that you are getting of and like below you should not be happening.

If the BSODs are still happening then you have other issues with the PO3-630, so follow the many links on the fixes for these BSODs, as that should fix these BSODs, like these, DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE or DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION (133). Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Acer tested M.2 SSD drives tested with this desktop, maybe these M.2 SSD drives are the only ones compatible with the PO3-630 desktop and if you don't use these M.2 drives that is why you are getting the BSODs , which is very unusual.
