Hi everyone. I have an ACER Nitro 5 laptop with an RTX 2060 and 15.6 inch 1080p 120hz screen. I was considering upgrading the screen and after researching I found that I can get the same 1080p screen with ,at most, 165hz refresh rate, which (as I am not a FPS gamer) I don't really need. What if I wanted to switch to a 2K screen to get a better picture quality? I have found a few option with the same connector and everything but only with 2K instead of FHD. Will the system work with it?

Thanks,

Pasquale

Hi Pasquale. the best thing to find out is by downloading the HWINO.64 Installer and open the Monitor tab in HWINFO, write down the ID, part number and brand for your screen and go to Panelook.com. Enter your panel details and find the screen you want for your model laptop. Check the thickness and panel size, vendor and availability.

The laptop that you have is the Nitro 5 AN515-55 / RTX2060 with the 120Hz screen which is unusual as Acer does not list a 120Hz refresher rate screen for the AN515-55 laptop below in this laptops service guide, as these laptops either came with a refresher rate screen of 60Hz with a 30 pin video connector or a 144Hz 40 pin video connector screen, the below caption are of all the screens fitted to your AN515-55 laptop and the highlighted screens are all 144Hz that have an option to be upgraded to a 165Hz refresher rate screen.

Seeing that your oem AN515-55 laptop came with a 120Hz refresher rate screen its got a 40 pin video connector so be aware of that, and if the 2K screen that you want to fit also has the same connector I can't see any problems with fitting a 2K screen on this laptop to get resolutions of 2048 x 1080, if the 2K screen has a 30 pin video connector then you need to buy a 30pin to 40pin adapter cable, but make also sure that its the same size 344.16 x 193.59 mm and thickness screen and it will fit into the top LCD panel and the surrounding bezel can be clipped in. Good luck.

These are all the AN515-55 Vendor/Model name screens of either 60Hz or 144hz oem screens, the highlighted screen models are all 144Hz screens that when purchasing these screen there is an option to upgrade to the higher 165Hz refresher rate screens.

Hi, the upgrade was succesful, however the screen should have a refresh rate of 165hz but it's recognized only as 60hz ( I did the UFO test on the web and that doesn't go beyond 60 FPS.) Might this be a compatibility issue or did I get the wrong display?
