Overheating or/and insufficient available memory are the main reasons, corrupted (GPU) drivers are a secondary cause, if the laptop is more than 3 years old check the battery condition (powercfg /batteryreport). Try Balanced Power Plan and turn off Turbo Boost, keep the power adapter plugged in and the battery 100% charged when gaming. To reduce memory use (should not exceed 60%) uninstall bloatware, 3rd-party pre-installed programs, browsers and virus checkers and trial versions that are running at the background, Check the number of background apps running at the background in Task Manager-Processes, if more than 80 disable the Startup apps in Task Manager,, bloatware and programs you don't need. Boot to Safe Mode and see if the system hangs when watching videos or some large offline program. If no issues uninstall the dGPU driver and just reboot.
