I upgraded to a newer version of the Acer Nitro 5, can I put the ssd of my old nitro to the new one?

I really just wanna save myself the hassle of downloading all my software again and the inconvenience of having to sign in to every website, email, and account. The model of my old one had an i5-11300H and gtx 1650 with W10 as its OS, and the new one I'm upgrading to has an i7-12700 and a rtx 3060 with W11 as its OS. Another reason why I want to do this is because I really don't want W11 and just stick to W10.

Not recommended as there are going to be W10 driver issues with the new W11 laptop. Best to back up the old drive to an image file like VHD with W7 backup (Control Panel), Install W10 and all your programs then mount the VHD image in File Explorer and copy your files to the SSD.

Is it possible to just downgrade to w10 on the new laptop?

If not, then am I able to use some cloning software so that I can transfer over everything I have downloaded to the new laptop?

Hi, cloning requires that the source and target drives have the same capacity (size), I don't think that downgrading a 100% Windows11 system is wise as W10 will become obsolete this year. You want to upgrade to 24H2 not downgrade to W10. 😑

Alright, so I did my research, and it seems that Microsoft is really pulling the plug on w10 which means me embracing w11 is inevitable, might as well start today. Downgrading is not an option for me anymore and its fine, I guess.

For cloning, does it have to be exactly the same size capacity or is it okay if the target has a bigger size capacity than the source? Since my old nitro has 512GB and the newer one has 1TB. Also, does cloning just involve getting my software or does it also save my preferences for the specific software? I also want to know if document history with MS Office apps will pass over, file pathing, and things like that. For music prod I use many VSTs and their files need to be in the same path for an app called Kontakt to access them, otherwise its either I path them to the new location and everything turns out great or with some vsts, they suddenly don't wanna work and I have to reinstall. My specific whereabouts don't really have the kind of internet to download something big that fast.
