Issues with Windows 11 Background in Personalization Settings in 2022 Acer Swift laptop.

Hi - I have a 2022 Acer Swift laptop. Last year I noticed following a Windows 11 update that my Windows 11 - Settings-Personalisation-Background setting was no longer being "remembered". I like to run a slideshow. Then after the last early Dec 24 Windows 11 update, another related background setting stopped being "remembered". It's annoying every time I start my PC I have to go back into settings and change back to my preferred options. So yes- sounds like a Windows 11 problem, and sure enough in the Microsoft Community Forum, several similar posts reported the same issue. However, what's weird is that my other little very portable laptop in which I have exactly the same preferred background setting has not had the resetting issue. The difference? My little laptop is a Surface Go3. The people in the MS forum having the same issues had either Asus or Dell laptops. Anyway, I have tried fixing, as like others in the Forum, as per suggestions made. All to no avail. So, I'm beginning to wonder is this an issue affecting certain laptop models more than others? Any advice please? A copy of my MS Community Forum issue is shown below. Thanks.

This latest release for Windows 11 defaulting to top of list selection for Background in Personalisation Settings.

Every time I start my Windows 11 laptop or switch to a separate Windows 11 session two of the Background setting options are being reset.

1) In the "Personalise your background" the option that is at the top of the list is defaulting each time I start my laptop. In this case "Picture" but my preferred option is "Slideshow". Last year this began to happen after one of the Windows updates. Previously my Windows setting always retained my preference but then it stopped. I did enter an issue about this, but no progress was made.

My understanding is that Settings is supposed to "remember" a person's preferred options when they close down so that they are re-initiated at the next start up. Can this functionality please be reinstated for the two options outlined above.
Many thanks.
Jonathan.

Thanks for that info, it sounds as if you are right and it's a bug in the implementation of multiple desktops, they should start the second desktop with some of the same settings as the original, rather than with the defaults.

This could be a group policy conflict, do you have:
Home or Pro version of windows?
    Microsoft account or local account?
Member of a domain or workgroup managed by an administrator?

Hi there Puraw. Thanks for your reply. I'm using Windows Home via my own personal basic Microsoft account, so I don't think this is Group policy conflict. Also - since lodging my concern I have discovered it is a Windows issue, and it seems to be caused when a user accesses more than one Desktop in their Windows 11 session. This seems to be triggering a reset to any personalisation-background preferences. I had to run a WINDOWS Repair installation process, which took a while. However, after several restarts my preferred background selections were finally being "remembered". But the moment I opened a 2nd Windows desktop the problem re-appeared, with the new desktop background defaulting to "picture" mode - which is the first option alphabetically in drop-down selections. Fortunately, I don't often need to use a 2nd or 3rd Windows Desktop and for now I will stick to the one so that I don't have to re-select my preferred background every time I start my Acer PC. Hope this helps other Acer owners who may be encountering similar concerns.
    regards
    Jonathan
