I wanted to update my BIOS so, I downloaded the .exe from acer's website. I just executed the .exe and some things happened. When the laptop then tried to boot, I got the INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DRIVE error. Then, after some hours of troubleshooting later, I fixed the issue by disabling the VMD in the BIOS. Now, the laptop works fine but I'm pretty sure that the VMD controller is supposed to be turned on. So, is there any fix for that?

It means your original BIOS was set to run a boot drive in standard AHCI mode. AHCI is preferred mode especially for those who might want to boot or dual boot other operating systems besides Windows. There is little or no advantage to change it to Intel VMD or RST mode even for Windows and may even cause drive corruption. Leave it alone.
