Nitro v16 (ANV16-41) battery draining while pluged-in.

Hi everyone,

About a week ago, I bought a new Acer Nitro V16 laptop, and I'm experiencing a problem. I play CS2 for about 3-4 hours, and after exiting the game, I noticed that the battery level drops from around 80% to 55-60%. The laptop was in Turbo mode and was always plugged in. I do not have the option to stop charging the battery at 80% enabled.

I've read about BIOS updates (I already have version 1.09) and updating drivers through NVIDIA GeForce Experience (which I did a while ago). Now I'm worried because I still have a few days left to return the laptop. Is it possible that I have a faulty battery or a defective charger? Is this normal for this model, or should I be concerned about a 30% drop in battery level during gaming?

I thought the battery might lose a few percentage points, but not like 30%.

Depends on your charger and game power utilization. If you have a 135W charger the drain will be more and if you have a 180W charger it would be less - just an example. Some chargers supply less power than what laptop uses when utilized at peak levels and so battery power too gets consumed to compensate for the shortfall.

Okay, I understand, but was this charger included with the laptop or does my laptop support a 180W charger? In the laptop's description, it said 135W, if I'm not mistaken.

I wouldn't know what charger came with your laptop - check the charger for that detail. Also, the same laptop could get a lower wattage charger based on region. From my experience, in some cases, Asia Pacific regions get a lower wattage charger compared to North America.

Did you uninstall all the bloatware and 3rd-party programs and are the background processes not exceeding 75 in Task Manager Processes?

The Nitro ANV16-41 laptops all come with a 135W adapter and the battery losing charge when gaming should not be happening, take your laptop back and get it exchanged for another laptop, as there is something wrong with this new laptops charging rail or power rail. Its allot easier to take it back to the retailer that you bought it off than waiting for Acer Tech Support to fix the laptop as it will take allot longer, as they have to analyze the laptop as this laptop has faulty charging rail and they will replace the mainboard for a new one. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

No, I haven't touched any of these. I don't know which ones they are or where to find them. Tomorrow is the last day I can return the laptop. Do you know of any video or which programs they are? Thanks
