Three months ago, my laptop was functioning perfectly. However, one morning, when I powered it on, I noticed that the screen's colors seemed off, and the display no longer appeared to be in Full HD. Upon closer inspection, I saw strange pixelation, with some colors and pixels missing across the screen. Additionally, as shown in the photos I took, there appears to be a burnt-out pixel.

Interestingly, after 12–15 days, the issue resolved itself without any intervention. However, after nearly two months, the same problem has resurfaced and persisted for the past 1.5 months.

What could be causing this issue, and what steps can I take to resolve it? I would greatly appreciate your advice and suggestions.

Laptop specifications:

Brand: Acer
Model: Aspire 5 A515-45
RAM: 16GB
SSD: 1TB
OS Edition: Windows 11 Home Single Language
Version: 24H2
Installed on: 11/29/2024
OS Build: 26100.2605
Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0

Given these details, I'm puzzled about why the laptop won't start on battery power alone. Could this be a hardware issue, or is there something wrong with the battery or power management system?

Any advice on diagnosing and fixing this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

A sudden pixel defect on a laptop display can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to try to fix it. Here’s a guide:

    1. Identify the Type of Defect

Dead Pixel: A pixel that remains black and does not light up.
Stuck Pixel: A pixel that is stuck on a single color (usually red, green, or blue).
    2. Software Solutions

Pixel Fixing Software: There are various programs available that can help fix stuck pixels by rapidly cycling through colors. Examples include:
    JScreenFix
    UDPixel
Display Test Patterns: You can also use online tools or videos that display solid colors to help restore stuck pixels. Leave the display on the color cycling for about 10-20 minutes.
    3. Physical Methods for Stuck Pixels

Gentle Pressure: Use a soft cloth or your fingertip to gently press on the area of the stuck pixel while the display is on. Use a small amount of pressure to avoid damaging the screen. This may help to "unstick" the pixel.
Massage the Area: Gently massage the area around the pixel with a soft cloth. This can sometimes help to restore the pixel.
    4. Update Drivers

Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date, as sometimes display issues can be related to software rather than hardware.
    5. Check for External Factors

Cable Connections: If you’re using an external monitor, check the connections to ensure they are secure. A loose cable can cause display issues.
Graphics Settings: Verify that the display settings on your laptop are configured correctly.
    6. Warranty or Professional Repair

If the pixel defect persists and is bothersome, check if your laptop is still under warranty. Many manufacturers will repair or replace displays with a certain number of dead or stuck pixels.
Consider consulting a professional repair service if the issue is severe or if you’re uncomfortable trying to fix it yourself.
    7. Preventive Measures

Avoid Screen Burn-in: Use screen savers and avoid static images for long periods.
Proper Handling: Handle your laptop carefully to avoid physical damage to the screen.
