Hey all,

I recently bought a nitro n515-55 and for the last week it won’t turn on. The battery indicator turns orange when plugged in, and when the power button is pressed on the blue light will also flash but the screen won’t turn on while both orange and blue light don’t turn back on. Taking battery out and going through power cycling does not help. This is my first time buying a laptop like this, any help is appreciated!

Hi, this is a 2021 model, either you bought a refurbished unit, or the laptop was returned and shelved for 4 years, in either case you should run a battery report as the flashing LEDs indicate a depleted battery or a hardware issue. But first try to reset the battery: Turn off the laptop and remove the power adapter, there is a small pinhole in the back of your laptop (with a battery sign), stick a pin in that hole till you feel it click (micro switch), keep pressing the pin for a few seconds. Plug-in the adapter and if the LEDs are still flashing, boot to Windows and paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, right click and select "Print to Microsoft PDF", attach the report to your reply, type @Pudim or use "Quote" when you reply so I will get an alert.

Just some additional advice as the Nitro laptops do have these symptom and a hard reset does fix this problem and its an easy fix, so do that first before you do anything. The hard reset resets the EC chip that governs the power switch to turn on the laptop and is the main cause(s) of laptop not turning on.

To do a hard reset do this, take the back cover off and take the main battery out, disconnect the bios battery and short its mainboard plug +&- pins and take the ram out, leave the laptop like that 1 hour and then reconnect everything but if you have two ram modules, only b=connect one and alternate the ram, as the ram could also be the problem why your laptop doesn’t boot. If this doesn’t work, then you need expert diagnostics by a technician as you can't fix this problem yourself. Good luck.

Btw, I've got the AN515-56 which is a very similar laptop to your AN515-56 and after doing a hard rest it worked perfectly and never did that again.
