I tried deleting the device via Device manager hoping that it would reload upon restart. It seems to be trying to use a mouse driver. Windows toggle has no effect. No drivers on this website. Suggestions.

Hi, there are no Touchpad drivers for the Aspire 3 series, the touchpad is integrated and controlled by Windows (MS Precision) only, boot to BIOS with F2 and check the Main screen what Touchpad is set at, you may have to press Ctrl+S to see the hidden options, select 12C HID if it is set for PS/2 or basic and save changes (F9) on exit BIOS. Boot to Windows and In Device Manager uninstall all instances of Elantech or Synaptics Touchpad you see also check the Hidden Devices (View in Menu) and in Human Interface Devices uninstall the 12C HID device, just reboot. Press F10 or Fn+F10 keys to enable touchpad and check Windows if Touchpad is on:

Puraw - Thank you. It now works. Another issue I had was being locked out of the BIOS which was solved by copilot searching for solutions. That yielded a master BIOS password that opened the BIOS and enabled me to set a supervisor password for the remainder of this machine's life. Now everything works! Thanks again!
