I’m currently using an Acer Aspire 5 A515-51G and have been facing some performance issues recently. The laptop is taking longer than usual to boot, and the CPU usage is consistently high (above 80%) even when no heavy applications are running. I’ve tried restarting the system, but the issue persists.

Here are the details of my setup:

  • OS: Windows 10 Home, version 1909
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 (8th Gen)
  • Storage: 512 GB SSD
  • Background programs: No unnecessary applications running in the background.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? I’ve already checked for software updates, but it hasn’t helped. Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated

Hi, there is 4GB onboard (soldered) memory and another 4GB in the removable memory slot, you can upgrade up to 20GB total memory (4GB onboard+16GB in the slot), so I would suggest you buy a 8GB DDR4 2133MHz module with CL value of 15. or this one 16GB DDR4 3200MT/s Non-ECC Unbuffered SODIMM CL22 1RX8 1.2V 260-pin 16Gbit from Kingston (see link). Avoid buying any modules with XMP profile, such as Kingston HyperX or Corsair Vengeance modules. Memory for a Acer - Aspire A515-51G-553U - Kingston Technology

If you have a 2.5" Sata SSD or M2 Sata SSD get a PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD like the Gen3 Samsung 970 Evo Plus up to 2TB or a Gen4 SSD like the new Samsung 990 Evo Plus for the same price but that will run in a 3x4 PCIe slot at the same speed as a Gen3 SSD.
Upgrade to Windows11 23H2 but first check if you have a TPM 2.0 chip:

    1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Type tpm.msc and press Enter.
    3. In the TPM Management window, check the Status and Specification Version.
