Hi, this laptop has either 4 or 8GB soldered RAM and comes with one slot and if that contains a 4GB module you can replace it with an 8GB module (8GB soldered+8GB in the slot makes 16GB total RAM), if it already has an 8GB module in that slot it cannot be upgraded as 4GB soldered+8GB in the slot makes 12GB.

Best to buy exactly the same brand, speed and CL of the installed RAM, to find out what is installed open the laptop to read the part number of the RAM module in slot 1 or run this command: wmic memorychip list full. You can buy the RAM module at Kingston:
    Memory for a Acer - Extensa 15 (EX215-22-xxx) - Kingston Technology

If still a mechanical HDD you can also replace the 2.5 Sata-3 HDD for a much faster SSD like the Samsung 870 Evo V-NAND up to 2TB but that would involve transferring Windows11 23H2 OS to the new SSD and if you have never cloned an SSD or restored a backup drive you may need the help from a PC repair shop. There is also a PCIe M.2 Gen 3x2 slot for a Sata-3 or even a NVMe SSD up to 1TB that you can consider for more storage or as a boot drive and then use the slower HDD for storage, again this would need some experience to do.

The Aspire Extensa 215-22 model is not a gaming laptop and it will play up to max mid-range games, as its AMD Ryzen 3 3250U cpu at 2.3 to 3.2 frequency and its integrated graphics the Radeon Vega 3 that that has a frequency of 1.1 GHz max is not going to get you far in gaming and will play just low to very limited mid-range games.

To speed this laptop somehow, fit a WD 540 Gen 3 x4 lane M.2 SSD drive that will improve gaming to a certain extent, as this laptops M.2 slot drive is a PCIe3 x2 lane slot that has a max read/write speed of 2000MT/s speed and a PCIe 3x 4 drives will speed this laptop up a bit also. But be aware that upgrading the ram of this laptop will not improve gaming performance as your oem 4GB internal ram and the 1x 8GB with the total is the max that your laptop can be upgraded to and @ 12GB total, that capacity ram is adequate for the games that this laptop AMD Vega 3 gpu can play. Most important is to make sure that this laptop has the last bios version 1.20 installed and all the windows update > Advanced options > Optional updates of either Drivers or or other updates that are available, as that is important and also make sure that you have the latest Win-11 24H2 version and all the updates to OS build: ,26100.2605, as that will assist this laptop performance also.

Good luck and hope this helps you out. If you or your brother want a gaming laptop, then buy an Acer Nitro or Predator model laptop, as they are specifically designed for gaming and high end editing.
