It has happened many times and I used to ignore it and restart the pc but sometimes it is pain in the head when this happens.

After playing any game or doing any simple thing on the pc ,the screen goes black and nothing works except for the mouse, so I have to forcefully restart the pc...

Any solutions on how to avoid this...

I don't know which exact model PHN16-7x you have, but I've just gotten the PHN16-71 before Christmas and what I've found is that its essential that you setup these laptop properly and fully right from the start and you do the following:

    1. Make sure that you have Win-11 version 24H2 OS and all the windows updates to its last December 2024 OS build 26100.2605, as this update installs all the latest compatible and appropriate drivers for your Predator Helios Neo laptop model.
    2. Also make sure that you Install the last bios version for the laptop either from the windows Optional driver section or Acer support page at bios, which for the PHN16-71 is version 1.18 and for the PHN16-72 is version 1.15.

As the above two updates are essential for this laptop to run properly, also and as regards to the screen turning off, I'm not experiencing this issue(s) that you are experiencing. What I suggest that you do is first look at the "Power and sleep settings" of your laptop and how they are set, as your settings could have the screen set at 1 min settings and that could the reason why the screen is turning off so soon.

But from what you are describing, its got more to do with a fault with either the laptop eDP cable or the actual screen, which you will need to book a service call with Acer Tech Support in your country asap so that the Acer technicians can fix your laptop or maybe replace the screen or the mainboard that could be faulty, which and if you allow the warranty to expire, will cost you like for the mainboard at least USD $3000 and the screen like USD $300, so be aware that parts on these laptops aint cheap!

I suggest that you do not try to diagnose this laptops hardware yourself internally, you can add upgrade the RAM to higher capacities like 32GB or 64GB DDR5 and add an extra Gen 4 x4 M.2 SSD drive, but that is all that I would recommend that you do! DO NOT do anything else and let Acer technicians fix this laptop for you. Also be aware that if your warranty is voided and/or expires and your Predator Helios Neo still has faults then be aware that these laptops parts are very expensive to replace, so its essential that you make sure that your laptop is sorted and operates 100% within the Acer 12 months warranty period and all faults are fixed. Btw, my laptop perform exceptionally and perfectly with doing all the above and like the Predator Helios Neo should do and was designed to be a flagship Acer product. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
