I own my Nitro 5 AN515-56 with i5-11300h Gtx 1650 8gb 3200Mhz. I am looking to just upgrade my ram possibly buying a micron 16gb 3200Mhz to match with the 8gb. I saw a post with i5-9300h similar to my problem and the cpu seems to support intel flex memory per the specification, then i look over to my cpu it does not list down the support for intel flex. Then I looked over the i5-11330h and i5-11500h where the 11330h does not support intel flex and 11500h supports intel flex. So my question is does the system run in dual channel if i match the 8gb and 16gb or should I just buy an 8gb stick. I don't intend to buy dual sixteen gb sticks. Does anyone have a similar scenario?

    I wouldn't recommend 8GB+16GB= 24GB Flex mode for gaming.

    • In 8GB + 16GB configuration, the first 16GB (8GB + 8GB) will run in dual-channel mode
    • The remaining 8GB will run in single-channel mode
    • Slower than dual channel but provide more size

    Performance Consideration-

    • Dual-channel mode provides higher memory bandwidth. For example- 8GB+8GB=16GB ram
    • Gaming performance can see up to 20 fps improvement with proper dual-channel configuration.

    My recommendation-

    • If gaming performance is critical, stick with 8GB + 8GB dual-channel
    • If total memory capacity is more important, go with 8GB + 16GB flex mode

    Key Takeaway
The 24GB flex mode is still better than pure single-channel, but slower than perfect dual-channel configuration.

This laptop can operate on a max total capacity of 64GB @ DDR4-3200MT/s CL22 type ram that Crucial has 64GB kits for and 32GB kits ram for, so have a look there if you want to either upgrade to any of those large capacities of ram.

If you just want to add a 1x 8GB DDR4-3200MT/s CL22 type ram module that will work with your existing Acer fitter 1x 8GB DDR4-32000MT/s CL 22 and give you a total of 16GB use the HK Hynix type ram below of match your existing 8GB DDR4-32000MT/s CL22 ram that you have.

    Btw, I've got the same exact model model Nitro AN515-56 but with an i7-11370H / RTX3050 / 32GB @ DDR4-3200MT/s CL 22 and I'm using these exact ram Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4-3200 SODIMM - DDR4-3200 • CL=22 • NON-ECC • SODIMM • 260-pin • 1.2V • 2Rx8/1Rx8 • PC4-25600 type ram

This is my old 16GB kit ram that I have and used for about 1,.5 years and it worked perfectly with the AN515-56 latop, so thi is a guide also for you, so see if you can still buy this ram from HK Hynix. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
