Acer Aspire AV15-52 Warranty Confirmation Request for Hinge Issues

Hello,

I purchased an Aspire AV15-52 in March 2023. The hinge is separated from the frame, and a wire hangs out. I cannot close the laptop.

Please see the attached photos.

The warranty expired. I have extended warranty coverage from American Express for the laptop as long as Acer covers this issue under the original one-year Acer warranty due to the manufacturer's physical defect.

In order to make an extended warranty claim with American Express, I must provide proof that the original Acer warranty covers hinge malfunctions caused by the manufacturer's defects.

Please confirm Acer would cover this claim if it were in the original 365-day warranty period.

Thank you.

Hinge problems like you are having is classified as ‘wear and tear’ and is a contentious warranty claim with Acer warranty, unless the LCD cover hinge screw securing points (see caption) have broken completely off the LCD cover, then Acer’s warranty might cover a fault like that. You need to contact Acer in your country as we can’t 100% guarantee that this fault is covered and even if we say that its covered under the Acer warranty, I don’t think that your extended warranty coverage from American Express will accept our authorization to repair your laptop.

What you have to appreciate is what Acer will consider wit a claim like this, as and due to the hinge being the laptop part that is opened and closed very often is a wear and tear part of the laptop (its like brake pads in a new car, which is not covered under warranty also) as you can open/close your laptop maybe twice a day in a normal situation but in extreme situation the laptop can be open/closed maybe 25-50 times a day, which is not the same as once or twice a day and wear does happen if the laptop is opened and close more often, which Acer could consider with your Aspire AV15-52 laptop, which and by its looks, does not look like its been looked after and or opened and closed properly or its been used in a normal way and they can consider it as an extreme case and Acer could take this into consideration and refuse a warranty repair claim, which could affect the extended warranty coverage from American Express.

If your extended warranty is not covered because of all the above, then an LCD cover for an Aspire AV15-52 is not expensive, so search the web with the Acer part numbers below for the appropriate color of your laptop and do it yourself, as a mid range computer skilled person can do this swap easily, otherwise get a technician to do this for you. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
