Predator 9000 (P09-600) possible upgrade

Hello. My son has a Predator 9000 (P09-600) gaming system we bought him back in 2019/2020.

It runs very well, but it is starting to get slow with a few of the newer games.

I would like to add more RAM (it has 16GB right now) and would like to know what brand is best as well as amount of ram to add/replace.

Also, he is running an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. Should I upgrade it or can I add a second one to it instead?

Do I need to upgrade the Power supply as well?

Thank you for your time.

Your PO9-600 desktop having the i7-8700K cpu is the best cpu imo that this desktop can have, upgrading to the 9th Gen Intel cpu's will not give you much of a performance improvement and its not worth doing.

This desktops cpu has a max memory speed of the DDR4-266MT/s speed, but Acer and Crucial recommend the max total of 64GB at 288-pin DIMM standard ram at DDR4-3200 • CL=22 • NON-ECC • UDIMM • 288-pin • 1.2V • 2Rx8/1Rx8 • PC4-25600 type ram, so fit this type of ram for best performance.

Also upgrade the 1x M.2 SSD boot drive that is a Gen 3 x4 lane type slot with a quick Samsung 970 EVO Plus m.2 SSD drive or you can put a Gen 4 x4 lane if you can get a drive that is cheaper than the Samsung as these Gen 4 m.2 drives are backward compatible, as that will also work well and will be good for any future computer upgrades.

The PO9-600 has an oem 750W 24pin PSU that can be easily upgraded with todays modern modular PSUs so you are lucky, as the oem fitted Acer NVidia GTX 1080.8GB GDDR5, 256B.10010MHz type gpu, you can upgrade this gpu with the oem 750W PSU to the newer NVidia 40 series gpu's like the RTX4070Ti type gpu, that will give you a tremendous performance graphics boost, but anything above the RTX4070Ti model will require a PSU upgrade of at least a 1000W PSU.

All the above is about the max that you can upgrade this Predator Orion PO9-600 desktop model so that its performance will be improved and boosted with its Intel oem Z370 chipset mainboard. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
