Hello,

I have an Swift 1 Notebook. It seems the internal mmc is damaged. Can’t format this memory and got an input/output error.

Now I add an eMMC and I can install windows on it. But can’t this Storage as first boot device.
Can anyone help me? The Device is an N20H2.

Best regards

lars

Hi Lars, the full model is Swift 1 SF114-34, the eMMC drive is soldered and can't be replaced but you have a M.2 NVMe slot for storage upgrades, to boot from this NVMe SSD (or M.2 Sata-3 SSD) do the following:
Install the new M.2 NVMe SSD: Ensure the M.2 SSD is properly installed in your laptop's M.2 slot.
Restart your laptop and enter BIOS pressing F2 during startup, check that the M.2 SSD is listed as HDD1 on the Info screen (1st screen).
Set Boot Priority: In the BIOS BOOT screen move the M.2 SSD to the top of the boot devices list and press F10, save changes on Exit Bios.
You will need to install an operating system on the M.2 SSD. You can do this by creating a bootable USB drive with the OS installation files and booting from it. If this does not work bring the laptop to a PC repair shop to do it for you or press WIN+R and enter 'msconfig'. Click the boot tab to see if two Win10 versions are listed, with the eMMC being currently set to default then change it to the M.2 SSD

Turn on your boot menu, then use F12 at boot time to choose the new drive as your boot source. Also, enable Secure Boot or else you will be vulnerable to some types of malware.
