PH315-54 LAPTOP

I bought this laptop 2 years ago. Since I bought it, the same problem has always been overheating and BSOD errors. I researched and tried to solve the BSOD errors. There was no progress. I took it to ECLIKER, a company that repairs and supports PCs. I paid 160.00 euros. New clean windows was installed. Tests were done. There was no solution. Did they tell me to write ACER that there was a problem with the laptop? Actually, I made a mistake by buying a brand like Acer. There are over 3 thousand complaints on the Acer website. All of them are heating BSOD errors. This means that I will not buy any Acer product and I will not recommend it to anyone. I bought 1500 euros of garbage. It has only been 2 years. You can't spend this much time with a laptop.

CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT is a Windows stop error that indicates a problem with your laptops processor. When this error occurs, it means that one of the processor cores in your system has failed to respond within the allocated time period. This can happen due to various reasons, such as hardware issues, driver conflicts, or software problems.

When CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT occurs, your computer may freeze, become unresponsive, or restart automatically. It can be a frustrating experience, especially if you’re in the middle of an important task or project. Its not a serious problem and it can be fixed, as not all Acer laptops are like your PH315-54 model, do the maintenance as a 2 years old laptop needs its paste and thermal pads changed.

First install the latest Win-11 24H2 version standalone .ISO file (you can download this off the web) and then to the update and do all the and the last "2024-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5048667)" so the OS build is 26100.2605, this should fix all the OS software issues for this error, as this update is a new version of Win-11 and it reinstalls all the drivers including the graphics drivers for Intel and NVidia gpu. Also check if the Windows Update has any Optional Updates like a firmware for the PH315-54 and install that also. Update the bios to the last version 1.15, if you got a WD M.2 SSD drive, update the firmware to the Acer provided version v61507100.

Afterwards go through this guide of how to systematically diagnose the CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT error as afterwards this BSOD should not come back and your laptop should not overheat, I'm running a Nitro 5 laptop with a Gen 11 cpu like yours which is the i7-11370H model and my cpu doesn't overheat and/or crash ever. Also and as a last resort, take the thermal module off and clean the fans and put new high quality liquid metal paste on the cpu and a normal high temp paste on the gpu and change the thermal pads on the vram chips, as all this will improv ethe temps of your laptop considerably, I've done all this also and its worked out and reduced cpu and gpu temps considerably. Good luck.

Use these high end paste and thermal pads for best results:

This is the Thermal Grizzly products I've used on my Nitro 5 AN515-56 gaming laptop with an i7-11370H cpu/RTX3050 gou/32GB DDR4-3200MHz CL22 ram, they are the Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal for the CPU while for the GPU you should apply the Kryonaut Extreme is a high performance paste and for the VRAM chips apply their Minus Pad Extreme which come in two sizes of 120x20mm and 100x100mm @ thicknesses of 0.5.1.0.1.5,2.0 and 3.0mm, so with the pads I bought the 0.5 and 1.0mm thicknesses as it was adequate to pack the VRAM chips so the pads make contact with the thermal module which is the purpose of the thermal pads.

The ones you mentioned here said that they do computer service. They said that there is no software error, the product is either the CPU or the Motherboard, this incident brings to mind the following: the error that I did not care about actually shows that I bought a defective product. My mistake was that I should have taken this product directly to Media Markt where I bought it. I also need to state that how can a big company like Acer sell a defective product without testing it, I stand by what I said, the Acer brand means nothing to me anymore. Because when I look at the blog pages, there are really many complaints.

That is very unfortunate as there are millions of consumers out there that are 100% satisfied with their Acer. product and if you had this problem from when you first got the laptop, then its your responsibility to utilize the 12 months Acer warranty period, as Acer would have changed the mainboard or done whatever your laptop required to be fixed, Acer would have even replaced the laptop with a new laptop if they could not fix it. I've been using Acer laptops since 2009 and I've bought allot of their products and I've never ever had any problems and/or purchased a defective new laptop from Acer. This is not Acer fault, its your fault for not utilizing fully the Acer warranty period which will be the same with every new laptop that you buy from whatever manufacturer you buy a laptop or desktop etc from. Good luck.
