Problems upgrading PSU.Predator P05-640. The system is getting power but won't boot.

I have a new 1200w ATX 3.1 PSU that I'm trying to install in a Predator P05-640. The system is getting power but won't boot. It makes a single click when the power comes on, lights go on, but no boot. I noticed that the 24pin MB connector has an open pin in the 5th position and the old PSU has open pins on the 5th and 11th position. I'm not sure whether that has any relevance. It's just the only difference that I can see. I haven't updated the firmware or BIOS since I bought the PC. I don't think that is relevant or likely to be causing any issues. Is the motherboard in my system just not compatible with new ATX PSUs?

The below diagrams are for the PO5-640s from its Acer service guide of its 24pin ATX_ POWER: ATX Power Connector and its 8pin ATX_12V1: ATX 12V Power Connector, try and get a diagram of your 1200W PSU 24pin and 8pin connectors and see if they match and if not what is the difference in the pin layout, as the new PSU should work.

The bios and firmware could have a bearing on the PSU issue, so upgrade the bios to version R01-B0 and also the available firmware to version V003 and see if that makes a difference, if not then the new PSU is different and will not work but the PO5-640 oem Acer PSU the 800W is plenty for a desktop of your model, you don't need a 1200W PSU, why do you want a 1200W PSU, why are you wanting such a high power PSU, are you intending to charge an EV 😁 as more is not better. BTW, you will find that searching on the Acer sites for P05-640 (Predator Zero) will not work, the correct model number is PO5-640 (Predator Orion). :)

Maybe I could solve this a different way given I can't seem to find the PIN layout for this Corsair PSU cable. Its a BN513 Be Quiet Pure Power 12 M, FWIW. The whole reason I was upgrading the power supply is because the new video card Nvidia 4070 TI requires a 16 PIN PCIe connection and the PSU that I have only has the old 12 PIN connection. Is there a PSU with the 16 PIN connection that is known to be compatible with this Acer?

Any ATX power supply should be compatible, since the PO5-640 uses the standard 24 pin connector. I don't see any reason the BN513 shouldn't work just fine, although 1200W is really overkill. Have you tried contact Be Quiet to ask them?

Acer fits the RTX 3070.8GB GDDR6. 256B.14000MHZ and the RTX 3080.10GB GDDR6X. 320B.9500MHz.as oem gpu's to the PO5-640 desktop, which your desktop should have had one of these gpu's also. If the NVidia RTX4070Ti has a 16pin power connection then get a 12pin to 16pin adapter as they are available so that you can connect the RTX4070Ti to the oem 800W PSU. Good luck.
