Bios Update: ROM id is incompatible with existing ROMID in veriton m4630g

I have an veriton m4630g ( B85H3-AM ) motherboard, with intel pentium g3220. I bought i5 4570 to upgrade but when I installed it i got bios error beep code. Tested the hardware, figured out the bios update is the last thing that could be the problem. Current bios version that I use ( which I already updated recently) is P11-C1L

The latest one that supports the new processors is p21-C1 from 2019.

When i go to DOS and run the bios update it says ROMid is not compatible with current romID. I know that the L in p11-c1L is for linux, but I am running windows 10 since I bought it and I dont know how to reverse it or what to do. The L ( linux ) bios came with installed, how - I dont know.

The last bios version P21.C1 should fully flash on your system. as you must have installed the P21.C1L before or the Windows 10 Windows Update must have automatically updated this bios on your desktop before it was an optional update in windows update.

But the bios P21.C1L has as an update called 1.Support new CPU and the CL21.C1 has not, so it should not make a difference to the compatibility of the cpu as a bios update is mainly for the mainboard functions and to make drivers runs in Linux or Windows properly with the mainboard.

What I think that is happening is that the Core i5-4570 cpu is not compatible with your desktop or that the cpu is faulty. As the Acer M3640G service guide does not show the model G3220 cpu as an oem cpu fitted to the Veriton, it only lists the mainboard "socket 1150. chipset B85H3-AM" with a Core i5-4430 cpu as the oem cpu fitted to this desktop, which is a 4 core 4 threads normal 3.0 to turbo 3.2GHz 6MB cache and a TPD of 84W, so try this cpu instead as it should work. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Try the flash again and go through this section for the Win-8 OS bios flash:

The L BIOS versions have extra stuff in them to support Linux better and otherwise are the same as the non-L versions. If you notice, there are two families of BIOS version for your Veriton M4630G, once with a size around 3MB and ones with a size around 8MB. That is because they shipped those models with two different motherboards. The CMOS chips used in the early ones have less room for the BIOS image than the later ones, so you can't mix and match. It sounds like you have the earlier motherboard, so the latest BIOS for it will be the P21.C0, the P21.C1 will not work and will generate the error you are seeing.
