Hi everyone!
I have device laptop Acer TravelMate P416-41. I need to disable virtualization in my device.
By default this functional is enable on BIOS and don't active for switch on disable.
I have last version BIOS v 1.12 , but system doesn't switch this functional. I also tried to activate set supervisor password, but it doesn't help too. I attached screens.

How can I do this, maybe there is some other secret?

Hi, AMD-SVM option at the top of your first BIOS screen is the Virtualization setting, just slide that to the left to disable and press F10 to save changes or save changes on exit BIOS 😉

Thanks for advice. But unfortunately this switch does not move, I can not switch it, it is locked. There needs to be some kind of key to activate this switch, by default it is always on.

OK, set a supervisor password in BIOS and write it down, save changes on exit, reboot and try to disable SVM, if still frozen it may be an Acer protection feature or a bug in BIOS. Also try to set the system to Safe Boot in MSconfig.exe, click on Apply and OK (in MSconfig), reboot to BIOS with F2 and try to change SVM again. Don't forget to reset/remove your BIOS password afterwards.

I tried all these recommendations but they didn't work. I think maybe need to install specific driver….?
Or need to know how disable this protection feature?
I try to reset default setting my BIOS a little later.

The service guide seems to be clear in that all you need to do is toggle the AMD-SVM and potentially the AMD-IOMMU on that first Advanced screen in the BIOS. You might have to disable one before you can disable the other…

Click on "Like" if you find my answer useful or click on "Yes" if it answers your question.

    Hi,
The thing is that I can't toggle either AMD-SVM or AMD-IOMMU, both switches are locked for me. They are greyed out and inactive. If you have also a model TravelMate P416-41 , can you try to see what show your BIOS for these items?
I assume there is a menu somewhere where you can unlock them and then they will become active...

As a follow up, I have already tried downgrading the BIOS to 1.07, but those switches are locked there too

What are the options for the Microsoft Security level? It might be controlling the AMD-SVM?

Hi! On the first screen you can see menu Microsoft Security level. I choosed Customized mode, however it didn`t work-> virtualisation switch is still locked.

In continue in Advanced settings I find next menu CPU Related setting , there are switch SVM lock. You can see it menu on my next screen. I think ,this switch is just what you need. I switched SVM lock in disable and after try to disable AMD-SVM ->swith virtualization is still locked .
Next I off SVM lock -> save sitting and shutdown ->load my computer again ->SVM lock enable again. Something turns it on automatically after each reboot.

I need advice on what else I can check to solve this problem.

Is your BIOS modded for revealing the advanced setting?

Hi! What is mean BIOS modded? I have last version v 1.12 from site https://www.acer.com/us-en/support/product-support/TMP416-41/downloads?suggest=TravelMate__P416-41;1

I can't really find any manuals for that advanced settings section, but doesn't matter much. Once you select the customized mode for Microsoft Security level. Save the setting and restart into the BIOS again, disable the SVM support and SVM lock. Try to restart again if it saves these settings.

I already tried, but after reboot the SVM lock and SVM support settings are enabled again.
