I've now bought 2 different aspire laptops and both had problem with the hinges I don't know why but this has been consistent with the 2 laptops I bought the hinges are always the one that wears out more than anything. I've now bought to an aspire 7 and aspire 8 both of them broke because of the hinges. These hinges break after 1-2 years after using it everyday ,I have called support but they say that its physical damage I don't understand how this can be physical damage even though I close the laptop and then it just breaks.

Hi, hinges are most prone to break for any brand laptop, budget and ultra-thin ones even more so because of the thin frame and plastic body. You have to open 15" and larger lids in the middle, some brands have a protruding handle on the lids, or use both hands at the sides of the lid, never open the lid at one of the corners as that exerts undue stress on the fasteners/screws of the hinges by the flexing of the thin lid that will eventually break lose and can even crack the screen resulting in costly repairs ($200-$300). Acer offers Swift laptops made completely of aluminum with sturdy steel hinges, I have one of those and it is a big improvement over my old Aspire5 A515-54G (2019) also with a broken hinge (and cracked screen). When a hinge is getting too tight or you hear a cracking noise when opening the lid, either by dirt accumulated or the hinge screws are set too tight, don't continue using the laptop in that condition but bring it immediately to Acer Services in your country to adjust the hinge assembly.
