Add additional SSD to Aspire A715-72G

Hi

I am trying to upgrade my Aspire 7 A715-72g and wanted to buy a 1TB SSD. It is supposed to have an extra slot so I wanted to add it as an additional hard drive. I have a 256GB SSD that came with the laptop.

I am trying to understand how this would or if it is possible. I don't understand a lot about computers.

Thank you.

Your A715-72G has only 1x M.2 SSD slot and NOT two, so you can only install a second 2.5" SATA III type SSD drive, that runs at max 600MB/s read/write speeds and your M.2 will run at max 2500MB/s read/write speeds. See the specs in the caption below for your laptop.

The fastest M.2 SSD drives that you can install is a PCIe 3 x4 lane type drives, see an M.2 benchmark here as they will be downclocked to the M.2 x2 lane speed, but a Gen 3 x4 lane M.2 drive is the way to go. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
