Folks, I've bought a new Acer Predator Helios Neo 16, PHN16-72. It comes with 16GB of RAM, and while that's okay, having 50%+ RAM usage just from Windows and a simple antivirus + VPN is concerning. I decided to upgrade my RAM to 32GB and bought two 16GB RAM modules with 5600 MHz speed from Crucial.
When I installed them for the first time, my heartbeat started racing because I got a black screen with only the keyboard and fans working. Nothing was loading. I tried a hard reset of the BIOS, but it didn't help. The BIOS was already updated to the latest version beforehand. As a last resort, I tried swapping back to the original RAM, which fixed everything and got the laptop running as usual.
I tried different approaches afterward: I installed both modules and waited for 5 minutes - nothing happened; I installed one module and waited for over 15 minutes - still nothing happened. It works with the original SK Hynix RAM modules though. The problem is that these are rare and mostly out of stock, and I couldn't find any place to buy them. I believe they're too specialised for the mass market, which is why they're difficult to find.
I was wondering, what RAM modules would be compatible with the laptop? Or is there any way to make these Crucial modules work? I would like to upgrade the RAM but can't do it successfully. I've read many topics and discussions on this matter, and some people can insert any module and have it work on their first try. Some people have the same issue as I do, but I couldn't find any solution. Rather than returning the laptop, I'd like to pursue upgrading the RAM, as I like the overall performance. I'd appreciate any help on this matter. Cheers.
