Hi,
The second slot is only for a M.2 SATA SSD, so I would suggest you replace the original M.2 SSD with the new Samsung 980 and recover the image on to it from the original drive because 980 can provide you with SATA speed and you will not benefit from the PCIe 4 speeds.
I would suggest you use the Migration feature to achieve this, please follow the method:
- Find a spare HDD and install in the HDD bay.
- Download and install Minitool partition wizard free version.
- Run the program and migrate the contents of original M.2 SSD to the spare HDD.
- Install the new Samsung 980 in the slot after removing the original M.2 SSD.
- Go to BIOS and make HDD as your first boot device.
- Boot with the HDD (spare) and use migrate to transfer everything from HDD to Samsung 980.
- Then remove spare HDD and install the original HDD.
- Boot with the new Samsung M.2 SSD.

Also can I have the original ssd plugged in the ssd slot because i know myself and would propably lose it before i build my own pc eventually.

Yes, in that case it's straight forward, you can just swap the SSD and perform a clean install of Windows 11, you can also leave the old SSD in the SATA slot for storage.
