Hello,

I purchased an Acer Aspire A517-58M-71A2 laptop in July of this year (so still under warranty). One evening I switched on the laptop and it would not connect to the internet and no available connections were viewable. I had to problem resolve via my iphone! I did everything I could to try remedy the situation and final I took to a reset to factory option. I did this with a clean install from scratch and there were still no connections available to me, I had to load command promt and bypass the internet option. I went into device manager and there was no driver available for MediaTec Wireles. I went to Acer website and downloaded and installed the latest driver available, I now realise that after e-mail exchange with Microsoft support (MS) (Tier 3) that there is error code 45 and was directed to :-

Going back in time, on discovery of the error and after my own investigations, I contacted Acer Support twice and was unlucky enough to speak to the same chap, who was uninterested, unhelpful and quite rude. He just kept saying that I needed to contact Microsoft support and scorned at the fact I'd reset the laptop.

I contacted MS Tier 1, who basically went through what I'd already done but couldn't gain access as I had no internet. I followed their instructions with cancelling drivers and reinstalling them (again), various command promt instructions and then they referred me to Tier 2 support who would call me back the following day. In the meanwhile, I purchased a USB wireless dongle and my laptop connected to the internet instantly.

MS Tier 2 called me back the following day and connected to my laptop via their QA connection. The guy at MS copied a lot of logs from my laptop so that he and his colleagues could review the windows 11 software for any problems, I was called back by MS support the following day and they escalated to problem to Tier 3. Tier 3 contacted me a couple of days later stating it was not a software issue, it was a hardware issue!! and referred to the error code 45.

Now (it's getting rather annoying and I'm hoping you're still with me), I requested an online return of my device to Acer for repair under warranty. I've received an email from them today stating that it is a software issue and basically given me the same instructions as Microsoft.

I'm now left piggy in the middle!!

My question is, has anyone experience this or perhaps has a cure which neither Microsoft or acer can seem to fix? Does anyone have a contact e-mail address to make a complaint to Acer? and if there is an Acer representative on this forum, could they contact me please?

So far Acer support has been pretty dismal and very difficult to interact. I now wished I'd bought the darn thing from Currys !!

Thank you in advance of any info provided. Regards
