Hi,

Recently I bought a Second Hdd caddy case for my laptop. I followed everything for installation of caddy but when I installed it inside my laptop and tried to boot it didn't proceed and got stuck on acer logo. So I took out the case and tried again and it worked fine, I thought my caddy was damaged but when I inserted it after the windows was booted it worked fine and was showing my hdd but the only problem I'm getting is that it doesn't boot when it's inside for working it I have to take that out.

I tried changing priority to my main SSD on top. Turned off secure boot and also fast boot option. But none of them worked.

I will be thankful to you if you can help me out with it.

My Laptop Specs

Model: Acer Aspire 4743

Processor: intel i3 1 gen

Ram: 4 GB

Graphics card: intel and Nvidia gt540M

Os: Windows 11

Be aware that the Aspire 4743 is NOT a Win-11 spec laptop and even running an unoriginal copy of Win-11 that you are running. must be draining allot of memory and performance from this laptop! Your Aspire is too old, and with its max 4GB ram capacity of either DDR III 1066 or 1333MHz it must run like a snail and very slow, you would be much better off to install Win-10 Basic with that ram capacity and this laptops specs.

The HDD caddy uses the SATA 3 interface data and power plug of the ODD/DVD drive and its really made as a secondary slot. I’m using the same setup on my Aspire V3-571G/i7-3610QM cpu/8GB DDR3-1866MT/s ram/NVidia GT640M gpu and it still runs slow in Win-10 Pro and its got a SATA 3 500GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD as the boot drive and an old SATA 3 Seagate 500GB within the caddy.

My advice to you if you want to use the caddy as a 1st boot priority is to change the boot order @ BIOS as follows:

    1. IDE CD/DVD as the 1st priority boot if you want to use the HDD caddy as the boot drive.
    2. IDE HDD0 xxxxxxxxx

Good luck and hope this helps you out.
