this is a PH315-51

This is the laptop of my mother and I'm the IT person of the household and when the camera stopped working I was asked to come fix it but wasn't able to find a solution. We've done the good ol' turn it off and on again, as well as checking if there was updates available, and even resetting the BIOS to default settings to no avail, help would be appreciated.

Hi, the internal webcam is managed by Windows and does not use a driver from Acer Support. If this only recently happened after a Window update/upgrade and you know the date when the webcam was still working just restore the system to that date (see picture). Note, if you upgraded to Windows11 23H2, there are no W11 drivers/BIOS on Acer Support for W11 so Windows will use Microsoft drivers that may not work with the 2018 webcam and you won't have restore points either. You can try to uninstall any camera device you see in Device Manager and yellow exclamation triangles or Unknown-Other devices and just reboot, Windows should detect the webcam and hopefully install the correct driver.
