Ever since I bought a new Acer Swift Sfg14-71T 2 months ago, I've been trying to prevent spontaneous highlighting of text and pictures which is really annoying. I don't know whether this is a problem with Windows 11-judging by the Windows forum this has been a problem for years in windows on laptops- or whether it's specific to Acer, which it seems no

I use the laptop purely as a laptop, no mouse, I rely on the touchpad.

I have tried pretty much everything to solve this problem. Adjusted my setting as recommended on forums. I've even reinstalled windows and of course in addition uninstalled and reinstalled the driver (which is ancient but apparently up to date), In order to get rid of the blue highlighting I need to tap the touchpad outside of the range of the window or tap the window with my finger. The blue highlighting is happening as I type this and the strange thing is, I can't reproduce it. As I say, it seems to happen randomly.

Are there any suggestions which do not appear elsewhere, to correct this. Thanks.

PS: it's just happened again!

Hi, not sure I understand your question correctly, but highlighting of only text depends on the document type (doc, PDF or a webpage) and the way a picture is embedded in that document, not a Windows or touchpad issue. If the picture is embedded/positioned in the same field as the text you are trying to highlight, start the curser from right to left or down to up if a column or table, and stop before the picture is included, takes a bit of practicing. A picture (full screen dump) would help to understand your issue better.

Thanks for replying. Actually it's been an issue on web pages and on Word but I think I've possibly sorted it by unticking mouse configuation and click lock and reducing the touchpad sensitivity to almost zero. This has taken me long to me to figure out, but it seems to have done the trick although I don't use a mouse. It still highlights spontaneously but not constantly which is more manageable.
