Are you sure the Wi-Fi adapter is the problem, first uninstall all network drivers you see in Device Manager Network adapters, also check Hidden Devices (Menu bar, View), uninstall any yellow exclamation triangles you see in Device Manager and just reboot, if still no Wi-Fi adapter do this:
    Press Windows key + X
    -Go to Settings
    -Click Update and Security
    -Click Troubleshooter then Additional troubleshooter.
-Look for Internet Connection and run the troubleshooter.

Once done proceed with these steps.
    -Press Windows key + X
    -Go to Device Manager
    -Click any drivers
-Click Action then "Scan for Hardware Changes"
Check if the driver will appear.

    Reset Network Settings
    Open Settings.
    Click on Network & Internet.
    Click on Status.
Under the "Change your network settings" section, click the Network reset option.
Click the Reset now button (see picture).
    Click the Yes button.
