Recently I have purchased one Acer Aspire 3 Ryzen 3-7730U (A325-42) laptop with 8GB RAM and 512GB SSD.

I found there is one user accessible m.2 ssd slot at the back panel, which can be added without opening the full back panel. But in specification of this laptop nothing is mentioned about it. This is wired. Could you please let me know what kind of m.2 SSD it will take? Will it take nvme or not?

As per specification, I can add RAM to upgrade the laptop. As there is no user accessible panel for RAM upgrade, I have to open the back panel. There are 2 questions on this.
1. If I open the back panel to add RAM, will it void the warranty?
2. do you have any back panel opening video for this particular model? That would help.

opening back panel is not new for me. I did it for many other laptops. But as the model is very new in acer lineup.

This is an Acer India model only and we don't have exact sopecs on the M.2 SSD or ram capacity or ram type for this laptop, so we can't advise you correctly as we don't have any official Acer specs and/or service guide.

Hi, the Acer Aspire 3 A325-42 model is primarily available in the Indian market, no detail technical information available, wait for others to comment.

I have the same laptop, i can confirm that it doesnt support nvme m2 ssd. it has a type b key port which support m2 sata not n2 nvme. you can also look at the notch on port on left side which is bey key whereas nvme needs m key notch on right side.

so you can buy an extra m2 ssd drive and plug it into by opening the bottom small cover given for ssd upgrade but not m2 nvme

I raised ticket with Acer India technical support. I believe they also don't have any answer. They are trying to kill time by asking repeating questions. I don't think Acer India technical support has technical competency yet on this MB.

I know it has Key B slot. M.2 SSD with either B type connector or M+B type connector should work with it. I tied with a M+B type SATA M.2 SSD. Neither OS nor BIOS detected it.

Did you tried with anything? Did it work? Till data I haven't heard anyone for which this slot worked.

I did something stupid i ordered an m key nvme 1tb and put it into the b slot upside down.

it didn't work although the slot aligned perfectly

i was thinking of ordering a sata m2 with b key but since you mentioned you tried sata m2 already i am not sure now

i also called up support and he told me it supports nvme upto 512 gb , i specifically asked about the extra expansion slot and he said yes nvme upto 512 gb so total of 1 tb. not sure if he was referring to what is already installed.

maybe one way would be to open the laptop and remove the existing 512 nvme and replace with 1 tb nvme.

in the bios i tried enabling legacy mode,

there was some settings for pcie control where set everything to enabled from auto

then some pcb settings where i tried tinkering with x4 instead of x2 and some other things but nothing worked. i resetted to default.

i can confirm that m2 sata 512 gb works in it. i took out an old m2 sata from my cctv dvr and put it into the the slot and it detected it fine and working in disk manageement , asking me to partition the unallocated space as mbr or gpt

Good. Then please provide me the photo of the SSD you used. I tried with Kingston 480GB SATA M.2. It was GPT formatted and having data as well. I took it from my working PC. But disk management didn't show it. I also have a case open with Acer. They are still to provide any solution to me.

What change did you do in BIOS? Could you please provide the photo of the SSD and also the BIOS pages? Attaching the photo of the SSD I'm trying to use. It's a M+B key SATA SSD.
