HelloTeam

I am experiencing multiple issues with my Acer Nitro 5 (Model AN515-57). Here are the problems I’m facing:

  1. Laptop Not Turning on Consistently: Sometimes the laptop won’t power on, even when it’s plugged in. This happens intermittently, with no clear pattern.
  2. Overheating: The black cable between the fans heats up significantly during use. I’m concerned this may be affecting performance or causing other issues.

I have tried basic troubleshooting steps, such as power cycling, checking the battery, and managing startup programs, but the issues persist.

Could you please advise on potential solutions or schedule a service appointment?

Thank you for your assistance!

Best regards,
Bala

You need to do a hard reset and see if the EC or Chipset chips need resetting, as these problems can be fixed with that sort of a reset. If you still have the power on problems then your AN515-57 has either an EC chip problem or chipset or its main power rail where a mosfet or capacitor is burned out, which need a technician to analyze and fix.

Hard Reset: Remove the eleven (11) screws securing the lower case to the upper case of the AN515-57 laptop, then starting from the upper side, pry to release the upper side latches, continue releasing the remaining latches. Then remove the lower case.

Disconnect the battery cable from the MB and take the main battery out. then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and then short the batteries + & - pins at the mainboard plug (as shown below)

Leave the laptop like that for at least 1 hour (preferably overnight) and then reconnect everything as the laptop should turn on and boot, if it doesn’t then you have other issues with the main power rail that a technician needs to pin point and fix. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
