Hi everyone,

I'm having an issue connecting my HP USB-C Dock G5, 5TW10AA#ABB docking station to my Acer Aspire AV15-51 laptop. I get the following error: "display connection might be limited". The displays do not detect any signal. I suspect this is because the USB-C cable for my docking station requires a Thunderbolt USB-C port on my laptop, which I did not know when I bought it and which my laptop doesn't have. I am wondering if there is a way to circumvent this. Could I get something like this for example?

If not, how do people usually connect more than one display to this laptop in a way that extends the display (not duplicate)?

Any and all help is very appreciated!

The "display connection might be limited" error is likely because the HP USB-C Dock G5 requires Thunderbolt support, which your Acer Aspire AV15-51 lacks. Without a Thunderbolt port, the docking station can't transmit video signals.

To extend displays, consider using a USB 3.0 to HDMI or DisplayPort adapter. This method allows for additional displays, though performance may vary depending on the adapter. Alternatively, a multi-port USB hub with HDMI support may also work, but ensure it’s compatible with non-Thunderbolt USB-C ports. This is a common solution for laptops without Thunderbolt capabilities.
