Six months ago, my VGA card failed, resulting in frequent blue screens and detection issues. After consulting to some service center (also official acer service center), they confirmed the VGA card is broken. Since then, I have been using my laptop with the integrated Intel UHD graphics without any display issues.

Currently, I need to connect to an external monitor or projector via HDMI, but I suspect the HDMI port may also be non-functional due to the broken VGA card. I understand that the USB-C port on my Nitro laptop does not support video output from what I have read questions regarding of it in this forum.

TL;DR

I have two questions:

  1. Is it possible to use a USB-A port to connect to an external monitor or projector?
  2. Will the broken VGA card affect all ports, preventing any external display connection, regardless of the port used?

Thank you in advance

What is the exact model of your laptop, as we can give you more details of the display output capabilities of its ports. The HDMI port on your laptop works perfectly and will extract an image with the integrated graphics processor to an external monitor and will handle the display output 100%, a USB type A does not have display out its only a USB-C TBT4 port or MicroSD card port of a laptop that have display out capabilities.

USB Type A: The main disadvantage of USB-A is that it isn't reversible, and you can only plug it in one way. It doesn't act as a video port, either. This means you can't directly display an image from a device like a laptop through USB-A.

Thank you for the answer, yes you are correct I'm asking if I could use USB-A port as display output using an adapter.

As you said I cannot directly use USB-A port to display an output,
I just bought a VGA/HDMI to USB-A converter/adapter and gratefully it could display output to my external monitor
