Functionality issues after firmware update – Acer P1157I projector with Wi-Fi Dongle

Details and Context:

I recently purchased an Acer P1157I projector equipped with a Wi-Fi Dongle module for wireless connectivity. On the first use, the device’s menu displayed advanced options, including settings for Wi-Fi connection, 3D configuration, and mirroring options through the EasyCast app. I successfully connected my phone using EasyCast, configuring the projector to function as a router for wireless mirroring. Everything worked well until the EasyCast app prompted a firmware update, which I accepted. The update process completed without apparent issues.

After the update, I turned off the projector. Upon reopening it the next day, I noticed the following issues:

  1. The projector menu now only displays basic settings (projection mode, location, keystone, digital zoom, language, and reset), without the advanced options for Wi-Fi, 3D settings, or other configurations that were previously accessible.
  2. Wireless connection no longer works, even though the Wi-Fi option is still visible in the basic display image. However, attempts to connect do not produce any response from the device.

My question is: Is there a way to reinstall the initial firmware or an updated version that would restore the full menu and wireless functionality? If a specific procedure is required or there is a firmware version that can be manually downloaded and installed, please guide me on how to proceed.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Acer does not have any new firmware that you can flash and/or listed on the P1157i Acer support site. From reading and looking at the P1157i projectors service guide, you need to have the Scalar Firmware for this projector and then update the P1157i projector through a special software called "DLP Composer Lite Installation Process" which should be done by a specialist technician that knows this projector.

Also. I've got no idea where you can obtain this firmware from and/or if you do that you won't damage the projector by rolling back or updating the firmware. I suggest that you take this projector back to where you bought it from and let them fix it and/or send it to Acer Tech support so that the Acer technicians can make your projector function again with proper firmware updates. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
