Hey! I had my monitor sitting in my parent's basement during my senior year of college. I turned it on for the first time today, and it has these rainbow lines. I'm assuming that it got damaged during the move from their house to my new apartment. I just wanted to see if anyone knew what was happening with it and whether I should repair it or invest in a new monitor. I know that repair costs can get expensive. Thanks!

The main causes appear to be:

    1. Try disabling G-Sync/FreeSync/VRR and try setting 120hz hz.
    2. PS5 Video Output Settings: On your PS5, navigate to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output Settings. Check the resolution and refresh rate settings. Make sure they are set to values supported by your Nitro XF243Y monitor
    3. Loose or damaged cable connections between the monitor and the device. Ensure the HDMI cable you're using between the PS5 and the monitor is securely plugged in at both ends. Try using a different HDMI cable to rule out any issues with the cable itself.
    4. Trying a different HDMI cable, preferably one that supports HDMI 2.0 or higher
    5. Disabling 1440p resolution and setting the PS5 to output at 1080p
    6. Test on Another Monitor or TV: If possible, connect your PS5 to another monitor or TV using the same HDMI cable. This can help determine if the issue is specific to the Nitro XF243Y monitor or if it's related to the PS5 itself.
    7. Electrical Interference: Ensure there are no electrical devices nearby that could be causing interference with the HDMI signal. Sometimes, other electronic devices can interfere with video signals and cause flickering.
    8. Hardware issues with the monitor itself, such as a faulty screen or internal component. In this case, the monitor may need to be repaired or replaced.

I would recommend first trying to disable any adaptive sync features, and ensure the cable connection is secure. If the flickering persists, you may need to contact Acer support or visit nearest acer service center for a potential replacement or repair under warranty.

It seems your monitor might have been damaged during the move. First, inspect it for any visible cracks,  chips, or other physical damage. If the damage is extensive, replacing the monitor might be more cost-effective. Next, connect it to a different computer or laptop to see if the rainbow lines persist. If they do, it's  likely an issue with the monitor itself. Reach out to Acer support for a professional assessment to determine if the issue is fixable and to get repair options.

First step is to turn the monitor off, disconnect the video cables and then turn the monitor back on. Do you see the same artifacts while the splash screen is being displayed? If so, the issue is hardware in the monitor and it's likely going to need to be seen by a technician. If they are not there during the splash screen with the computer disconnected then the issue is more likely to be in the cable or the computer.

Just as a last resort, try to do the "Reset All Settings function" like the guide below:

Try the above and see if the screen resets, otherwise the screen is damaged and your Acer QG241Y monitor needs a new screen which is the following scree below if you want to spend that sort of money on this monitor, as imo its allot better and cheaper to buy a new monitor, good luck.
