Hi,

I just bought an Acer Swift and Go 14 and the touch pad is driving me nuts! It shuts off sound and when the light comes on in touch pad, I try to turn it on when lite up but what a joke it does not work. So frustrating can you turn all that off on touch pad?

Hi, start with uninstalling all bloatware, 3rd-party browsers and virus checkers, trial versions and programs you may have installed recently, check Task Manager Processes-Background how many apps are running at the background if more than 75 you need to uninstall or disable some in Services. Boot to BIOS with F2 and check the Touchpad setting in the Main screen (press Ctrl+S to unhide), if set to PS/2 change to 12C HID and save changes on Exit BIOS. Boot to Windows and in Device Manager uninstall any instances of ElanTech, Synaptics or other touchpad drivers that you may have installed, also check the Hidden Devices (View, in the menu) and expand Unknown and Other devices, if you see 12C HID devices with a yellow exclamation triangle uninstall those too. Expand Human Interface Devices and uninstall the 12C HID device. Just reboot and Windows11 will install Microsoft Precision program for your touchpad.

If your cursor will not move or your touchpad is not working at all:

    1. Remove connected devices - Remove all devices that are connected to the system except for the power cord. This includes external keyboard, mouse, flash drives, hard drives and other peripherals.
    2. Enable/disable your touchpad - Many systems allow you to turn the touchpad On or Off by pressing a key combination. On most models it is FN + F7 or FN + F2, but could also be a different function key. The touchpad function key will be labeled with one of the images below.
    3. Restart your computer - Restarting your system may help your touchpad start responding again.
    4. Reset BIOS or UEFI to default settings - Some systems have touchpad settings in the BIOS/UEFI.
    5. Reinstall touchpad drivers - Missing or incorrect drivers may cause your touchpad to not work properly. You can try downloading and installing the latest driver from our Acer Drivers and Manuals page. You may need to attach an external mouse to complete this process.
    6. Restore Windows- Newer versions of Windows allow you to restore your operating system without losing your personal data. Make sure you select the option to Keep my files.

If you can move your cursor but are having problems with cursor speed, erratic behavior or tapping and clicking:

    1. Adjust touchpad sensitivity - If your cursor is moving too fast or too slow, you can try changing your touchpad sensitivity.
    2. Disable tap to click - Accidentally making contact with the touchpad when typing can cause the cursor to jump around or leave the window.

    1.  Press the Fnkey + F7to toggle the touchpad on and off1. This is a common solution for touchpad issues
    2.  Download and install the latest touchpad drivers from the Acer Drivers and Manuals page for your  specific model. Make sure to restart your laptop after installing the drivers.
    3.  Ensure that the touchpad is enabled in the BIOS settings. Restart your laptop and press F2 to enter the BIOS, then check the touchpad settings.
    4.  Disconnect any external devices (like a mouse) that might be interfering with the touchpad.
    5.  Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve many issues.
