Hi,

This is my son's Chromebook so I'm not super familiar with it. When I plug in the power cable the red led on the power button comes on, but it won't boot up when I press the power button. I've tried holding the power button down for several seconds, but it doesn't do anything either.

If I unplug the power cable the red led goes out. With it unplugged I pressed the power button, and the blue led comes on for a few seconds but then goes out and the Chromebook doesn't come on.

What is your sons exact Chromebook model number, as this model N19Q10 means nothing as that is not what the Acer laptops are identified by, give us the other full model Chromebook number.

Do a reset by taking the main battery out and leaving the laptop without power for 1 hour so that its EC chip is reset, and not by just pressing the power key to reset the battery, if that doesn't work then the Chromebook has a main power rail mosfet or capacitor chip issue(s) that stops the laptop from firing up and booting and it needs a technician to analyze and fix it. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

The amber light is just telling you the charger is connected and charging. It will change to blue when the battery is at full charge. According to an eBay listing your model number is one of the CP311-3H versions. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like CP311-3H-xxxx. The last four digits takes you down to the specific SKU, but isn't likely needed for your question. This is what Acer says about that indicator:

Plug it in and allow it to charge fully, though it wouldn't hurt to do that battery reset as suggested. Sometimes the batteries can get confused and report corrupt data to the system, which can tell it there's no power available to run.
