Acer Swift Go 14 SFG14-73 Touchpad not working when I go to Youtube

When I go to Youtube the touchpad stops working. I have restarted the laptop and tried updating drivers but it hasn’t helped. The mouse does work in Youtube when I connect an external wired mouse. Therefore the issue is likely with the touchpad. The touchpad works otherwise but as soon as the multi-control features (play button, volume etc.) appear it stops working.

If your cursor will not move or your touchpad is not working at all:

    1. Remove connected devices - Remove all devices that are connected to the system except for the power cord. This includes external keyboard, mouse, flash drives, hard drives and other peripherals.
    2. Enable/disable your touchpad - Many systems allow you to turn the touchpad On or Off by pressing a key combination. On most models it is FN + F7 or FN + F2, but could also be a different function key. The touchpad function key will be labeled with one of the images below.
    3. Restart your computer - Restarting your system may help your touchpad start responding again.
    4. Reset BIOS or UEFI to default settings - Some systems have touchpad settings in the BIOS/UEFI.
    5. Reinstall touchpad drivers - Missing or incorrect drivers may cause your touchpad to not work properly. You can try downloading and installing the latest driver from our Acer Drivers and Manuals page. You may need to attach an external mouse to complete this process.
    6. Restore Windows- Newer versions of Windows allow you to restore your operating system without losing your personal data. Make sure you select the option to Keep my files.

If you can move your cursor but are having problems with cursor speed, erratic behavior or tapping and clicking:

    1. Adjust touchpad sensitivity - If your cursor is moving too fast or too slow, you can try changing your touchpad sensitivity.
    2. Disable tap to click - Accidentally making contact with the touchpad when typing can cause the cursor to jump around or leave the window.

Which Swift Go 14 model is it? Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like SFG14-xxx-xxxx.

While the standard procedure for fixing a touchpad or other input device as referenced earlier is fine generally speaking, but the "Multi Control Touchpad" on the Swift Go 14 is a different animal. I could find no answers in Google Search though it did bring me to this page. The real answer can be found in the Acer Swift Go 14 user manual on pages 25, 26. My friend couldn't find the issue in Google search either. Here it is: use the F10 key in the top row. This turns on or off the play/ pause/ rewind function that takes over the touchpad when one visits YouTube, Netflix and who knows how it senses a chance to change its normal functioning that allows you to navigate the page, choose a different tab, or choose an app in your taskbar. When it is on, the video player function doesn't even wait to let you choose a video on a YouTube page or to pick a user profile on the Netflix page. It just quits functioning as a touchpad and starts being an interface for video streaming, so it must be turned off with the F10 key in order to pick your profile or video on the YouTube page.
