Hi,

My Acer Predator can not be turned on, even after I hold down power button for 1 minutes and wait..

For my previous laptop, I could open up the cover and disconnect/reconnect battery, can not do that on Acer predator. So what is proper way to fix this?

The power key is a soft power controller that is wired up as a regular key on the keyboard which could be stuck, try some contact cleaner spray to loosen it up or the switch is broken, which and then it needs replacing but you need to open the laptop.

All Predator laptops can be opened as they have around 12 screws that you need to unscrew to take the back cover off and then I suggest that you first do a Hard Reset by taking the main battery out first, then disconnect the bios battery and shot its +&- plug pins of the mainboard to reset CMOS, take the all the ram out too, leave the laptop like that for 15min and reconnect everything back. if you have 2x ram modules only connect one (as it could be the ram also, so be aware of that) then reboot the laptop, as it should boot properly. If its doesn't then take the laptop to a technician, as you have a shorted mosfet or capacitor in the main power rail. Good luck.

Good. and I'm glad that you fixed it and I've been of some help to you, as your laptop must have had a frozen EC chip and that Hard Reset method unfreezes this chip and you shouldn't have any more problems, if you do then do another hard reset as that works until the EC chip fries and needs replacing, which it can be replaced, so be aware of that also, as a good technician can do that for you as this EC chip is a programmed chip that sometimes when replaced the laptop automatically programs the chip or in other cases, it has to be pre programed.
