Need help, Acer SSD FA200 not showing up after install! any tips?

Hey everyone,

I just installed the Acer SSD FA200 in my laptop, but for some reason, it's not being detected. I’ve double-checked the connections, but it’s still not showing up in the BIOS or Disk Management.

Anyone else run into this? Am I missing a step, or is there something I need to update? Any tips would be awesome! Thanks!

    Hi, what is your laptop full model and what version of Windows10-11 are you using?

    Don’t know what laptop/desktop model you have, but if you want this drive as an additional M.2 SSD, first look in Disk Management and see if the FA200 M.2 drive is showing there as a drive, as it should and then right click on it and see if the drive is formatted or initialized as it needs all that and a drive letter, as afterwards the FA200 M.2 Gen 4x4 drive will be recognized and you can use it.     As others have said, we really need to know what laptop you have. If it's an older one the M.2 slot may not support NVMe drives…

    1. Check BIOS settings: Ensure that the SATA port or M.2 slot (depending on your SSD type) is enabled in the BIOS. Sometimes, specific slots are disabled by default.
    2. Update BIOS/Drivers: Look for a BIOS update for your laptop model. Also, check if your storage controller or chipset drivers need an update.
    3. Re-seat the SSD: Sometimes the connection may seem fine, but re-seating the SSD rope can help ensure it’s properly connected.
    4. Try a different port: If possible, switch to another SATA or M.2 slot to see if it gets detected there.
    5. Test on another device: If available, test the SSD in another machine or external enclosure to confirm it’s working.

    If none of these work, there could be a compatibility issue or a faulty SSD. Hopefully, one of these steps resolves it!
