Swift SF314-511No Sound Output or Input Devices Found

I've just returned from a couple of months away and upon firing up the laptop and doing the recommended updates I seem to have lost sound from the internal speakers. Bluetooth speakers still work fine. I keep getting on the System-Sound page of settings "No Output Devices Found". I ran Troubleshooting and it wasn't able to help because no audio devices were found. I've looked through a bunch of questions and answers on this forum but because I'm not particularly "techie" I'm a bit worried about following some of the advice. For example, someone suggested restoring the laptop to an old date when I knew the sound was working. If I do that, does that mean everything on the laptop restores to the old date? (E.g. I've downloaded a heap of holiday photos since my return).

I checked Device Manager and under "sound, video and game controllers" I only have connected bluetooth devices listed and they all work.

Is there something else I should be doing/checking?

My Swift 3 runs Windows 110 Home, OS build 22631.4249

Hi, probably an update that removed the Realtek driver, you can do 2 things to restore your audio: Restore the system to before the updates or a few months back when your audio was still OK or uninstall all Realtek drivers in Safe Mode (in Windows keep the Shift down and click on Restart-Power icon taskbar) with DDU freeware downloaded from the Wagnardsoft site: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091878/graphics.html and just reboot, Windows11 will install the correct driver. To restore to an earlier date, type Restore in Windows Search and click on "Create a restore point" with a date. No, you won't lose any data or pictures, just the Windows updates so after the restore (5 minutes) you need to click on "Check for updates" again.

This issue is caused by a defective update from Microsoft, KB5043145. The fix is two-fold, you uninstall the update, block it from reinstalling if needed, then re-install the Realtek audio drivers and utility from Acer's support site. That update has been causing all kinds of issues with many different hardware platforms, but on Acers so far it seems to be limited to benign problems like this one and USB port issues. With other platforms it can be as bad as BSODs during each boot attempt. :(
