Hi @Apollo5177 it is possible that the disk is not compatible, can you please indicate the exact model of the equipment so that we can consult the service manual and know the type of disk that can be installed?

    Regards.

To give you a more detailed answer from the Predator GX-791 laptop Acer service guide which has the following storage specs and the only M.2 SSD SATA slots are at Storage 2 and Storage 4 as specified below.

The below list are the Acer listed 512GB SATA "B&M Key" edge connector M.2 SSD drives that Acer tested the Predator GX-791 laptop with and they work in Storage 2 and 4 M.2 slots, so try and buy these M.2 SATA SSD drives as they work with the GX-791 laptop.

    • TOSHIBA - THNSNJ512G8NY
    • SAMSUNG - MZNLN512HCJH
    • LITEON - CV1-8B512

This is the Storage 4 M.2 SATA SSD slot where you should be installing the new M.2 SATA drive

Below is the SAMSUNG - MZNLN512HCJH SATA B&M Key M.2 SSD drive that Acer recommends with the GX-791 so have a look at the B&M Key pins and make sure that the WD 500GB is the same, as and if it is, then it should work and your M.2 SSD slot is faulty or the drive is faulty if you bought it used.

As I've detailed above Apollo5177, the Predator GX710 laptops Storage 4 where you want to install this WD SN520 M.2 SSD drive the WD SN520 is NOT a SATA B&M M.2 SSD slot drive, the WD SN520 M.2 SSD is a PCIe 3x2 NVMe v1.3 type drive and that is why its not working in your Storage 4 SATA Express M.2 slot in the laptop, this drive fits into the M.2 slot but it does not work as its an M Key drive! Get the B&M M.2 SSD SATA drives that I've listed above that Acer has listed for the Predator GX-791 laptop as that is where your problem is, its a very simple solution😀! Good luck
