Screen Blinking Issue on Acer Aspire 5 (model: A515-45)

I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to reach out regarding a screen blinking issue I’m experiencing with my Acer Aspire 5 (model: A515-45).

Here are the details:

Model: Acer Aspire 5 (A515-45)
Operating System: Windows 11
Symptoms: The screen flickers intermittently, which occurs both when idle and during various tasks. It seems random and can happen several times a day.

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

Updated graphics drivers to the latest version.
Checked for Windows updates and installed all available updates.
Restarted the laptop multiple times.
Adjusted display settings, including resolution and refresh rate.

This is typically a video driver issue, boot to Safe Mode (in Windows hold down the Shift key and click on Restart) and see if with Base Video the blinking stops. If OK you have to uninstall your video driver in Safe Mode with DDU freeware and just reboot: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000091878/graphics.html

Hi @charlichaplan the problem can be caused by two circumstances, an incorrect driver or a refresh rate that is too high regardless of whether the monitor supports it.
For the first, always install the drivers provided by Acer, Windows Update will update them, what graphics driver are you using?
Those provided by the graphics card manufacturer are not always valid, keep in mind that these are generic drivers while those provided by Acer are created by the graphics card manufacturer at Acer's request especially for that computer.
According to what I see on the product page, your graphics card is an AMD one:

display, it may be due to a hardware issue with the laptop’s screen. Next is to make sure that the graphic card driver is update. Outdated drivers may cause incompatibility, leading to screen flickering problems. Regularly updating drivers ensures optimal performance and a flicker-free experience. Also to note overheating can cause hardware issues so, routinely check your laptop’s temperature to ensure it is not overheating. Make sure you clean any dust or debris from the vents and fans to improve airflow.
